Yes, The Chemistry Brand is cruelty free.
The Chemistry Brand was created by DECIEM, a Canadian beauty company that also manufactures NIOD, Hylamide, and The Ordinary. The company was founded in 2013 by Brandon Truaxe, who was driven with a desire to make quality and sensibly priced beauty products. Gluten-free hyaluronic concentrate (a hydrating moisturiser) and glow oil (a tanning alternative) are both sold under The Chemistry Brand line.
On their Our relationship with animals page, the company writes, “DECIEM does not test on animals and does not ask others to do so. DECIEM has been certified with the Leaping Bunny stamp of approval, a widely recognized standard for personal care and household products. Additionally, The Ordinary, The Chemistry Brand, and HIF have been certified vegan by PETA, and we are currently obtaining certification for all other DECIEM brands.”
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) supports DECIEM’s claim by including The Chemistry Brand on their Beauty Without Bunnies online list. They are recognised as a skincare brand that does not test its ingredients, formulations, and products on animals at any stage and anywhere in the world.
Aside from being cruelty free, DECIEM also states that it does not use animal-derived ingredients and by-products. On their FAQs page, the company writes: “The Ordinary, The Chemistry Brand, and HIF have been certified vegan by PETA… Please refer to our legend for each product on our website that will indicate the specifications of any given product (for example, if it is vegan, nut-free, oil-free, etc.).”
