About the shelter
Cocker Spaniel Rescue QLD is a non-profit organisation focusing on rescuing and rehoming abandoned spaniels found within South East Queensland, Australia.
This animal shelter started out as a Facebook page to assist spaniel breed lovers in taking care of their dogs. It quickly evolved into something more given the need for a loving space that spaniel breeds could call home.
Within weeks of its Facebook page conception, Cocker Spaniel Rescue opened up shop and started rescuing and rehoming spaniels in the Logan, Brisbane, and Gold Coast areas. Once under their care, the team at Cocker Spaniel Rescue QLD works on placing these animals in foster homes until they are adopted by the right people. The dogs they take in don’t have a rehabilitation or foster care time limit, so they can stay with the rescue as long as possible.
Under the leadership of its founder, Cocker Spaniel Rescue has formed good working relationships with veterinarians based in South East Queensland. These vets help them ensure the spaniels they take in receive proper veterinary care and regular checkups while they are placed in foster homes.
Mission
- A foster-based volunteer group, Cocker Spaniel Rescue QLD is an Australian shelter home that envisions a world where young and old cockers belong to loving and happy forever homes.
- For this to happen, they have a team that works on rescuing and rehoming abandoned spaniels, whether they are young or old, well or injured.
- Top on their priority list is to talk to spaniel breed owners and educate them on how to properly care for this special breed.
- If an owner has difficulties taking care of his dog, the group asks the pet parent to surrender it to them rather than leave it elsewhere.
How you can help
You can assist Cocker Spaniel Rescue QLD by either donating or adopting a spaniel. If you choose to adopt, they have a variety of beautiful spaniels you can choose from. They even come in different ages, so you can settle with a playful pup or a full-grown adult. There is also an option of helping the rescue through direct bank or Paypal donations. Cocker Spaniel Rescue QLD has quickly grown over the years, and therefore, more funds are needed to help more dogs and keep the rescue going.
