Blue Cross Animals Society of Victoria

About the shelter

Blue Cross Animals Society of Victoria (BCAS) works on rehoming dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens, as well as other animals whose future would be in danger without proper care and affection.

The non-profit organisation has been dedicated to the happiness and health of pets since its establishment in 1966. They give their all to be able to provide a healthy and happy environment for these pets, whether they are unwanted, abandoned, injured, or ill. The organisation is opposed to euthanasia, except in cases of aggressive temperament and if the animal is extremely unwell and is a danger to itself and others.

As a charity, BCAS strives in encouraging people to donate money, as the more funds they are given, the more help they will be able to give back to the animals. The society is dedicated to finding fur-ever homes for unwanted dogs and cats whose futures would be bleak if they are not taken care of appropriately. This service would mean that they help each and every pet match with the right owner. In addition, the organisation actively supports and fights for the welfare, values, and rights of all animals. Thus, BCAS thrives to report any acts of animal cruelty or neglect to the proper authorities.

Mission

  • Blue Cross Animals Society of Victoria’s mission is to rescue, care, and heal all animals, whether they are injured, sick, lost, or in need of immediate food, shelter, attention, or veterinary treatment; they work to create a safe and compassionate environment for these creatures.
  • Aside from caring for animals, BCAS supports as well as encourages responsible pet ownership. BCAS promotes animal protection and welfare, and educates people about the humane treatment of animals.

How you can help

Through the proper application process, BCAS can help you become an adoptive owner of one of these unlucky animals. Plus, they accept donations since they are a non-profit association that does not get any government funding. Through your donations, they will be able to promote responsible pet ownership, as well as find new loving homes to animals in need.

People living close to Wonga Park, Victoria are also welcome to volunteer and care for the animals in the shelter. They must be willing to perform tasks such as cleaning the shelter, tending the garden, and assisting in the bathing of pets.
