About the shelter

A non-profit organisation founded in 2014, Angel-Paws Inc. Animal Rescue NQ is a volunteer group that gives rejected animals across North Queensland a second shot at life.

It all started when Ayla Watt purchased her beloved pet Nugget from a backyard breeder. She discovered that the puppy had medical complications and would not have survived had she been placed in a shelter. From this realization and her previous shelter volunteer experiences, Ayla decided to form her own animal rescue.

Today, Angel-Paws Inc. is composed of a core group of 15 dedicated people who teaches rescue animals how to be outstanding pets through foster care. Also on board are veterinarians and foster carers that volunteer their time and knowledge to help restore the animals’ health and well-being before they are matched with the right adopters.

Based in Townsville, North Queensland, Angel-Paws Inc. is a a no-kill rescue that extends help to areas such as Cairns, Charter Towers, Bowen, and Palm Island, traveling as far as Perth and Hobart to give the rescue animals to their new, deserving families. Every animal they take in receives the care it deserves until it moves on to a permanent home. This organisation is purely moved by passionate volunteers who want to make a difference in the lives of their four-legged friends.

Mission

• Angel-Paws Inc. offers time, resources, effort, and love to abandoned and surrendered animals.
• With the help of foster carers and veterinary clinics, they endeavour to nurture animals with limited opportunities no matter the type, age, size, sex, or breed.
