Is Hanami Cosmetics Cruelty Free?

Yes, Hanami Cosmetics is cruelty free.

Hanami Cosmetics is a female-run Australian company that manufactures makeup, nail care, and nail polish products. It was founded by naturopath Hannah Jones in 2016, with the intention of helping people “look good, feel good, and do good all at the same time.” As an ethical brand, it promises to develop body products that are good for its customers as well as the planet.

Starting off with six nail polish colours, Hanami’s collection has expanded to 49 vibrant nail polish shades. In 2020, they introduced their “plant polish” that uses 82% naturally derived and sustainable ingredients. Raw materials such as corn, cotton, sugarcane, and potato are utilised to create their “10 free” polish formula.

Hanami is committed to using certified cruelty free and vegan ingredients—a claim that has been verified by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals’ (PETA) Global Beauty Without Bunnies Program. PETA lists them as a company that does not test on animals, and whose products are all vegan. This means that they do not conduct tests on animals at any stage anywhere in the world. In addition, they also do not use ingredients that come from animals and its by-products.

With its tagline being “cosmetics with a conscience,” Hanami supports various organisations. They state, “At Hanami, we also hold a deep connection and concern for the welfare of animals and the environment, and we are passionate about seeing an end to animal experimentation. We are proud supporters of Humane Research Australia (HRA), a non-profit organisation that challenges the use of animals in experiments and promotes the use of more humane and scientifically valid non-animal methods of research.”
