ACS Distance Education offers an online cat psychology and training course broken down into eight lessons.

From communication to behaviour training, this home study course will help enrollees gain a deeper understanding of how a cat’s mind works and train her accordingly. 

What is it?

An eight-lesson online course, Cat Psychology and Training takes approximately 100 hours to complete. Its topics include Nature and Scope of Cat Psychology, Cat Senses and Communication, Understanding Natural Behaviour in Cats, Behavioural Disorders/Abnormalities, Basic Training, Obedience Training, Cat Behaviour Management, and Operating a Cat Business. Every lesson is completed with an assignment that is submitted then assessed by a school tutor.

ACS Distance Education, an internationally recognised college that offers more than 600 online courses. The instructors of the course are Bob James, Jade Sciascia, and Alison Pearce.

How much does the course cost?

The online course is priced at 647.90 AUD (for students within Australia) and 589 AUD (for students outside Australia). E-Learning via USB stick is also offered at 682 AUD (within Australia) and 620 AUD (outside Australia). Lastly, correspondence (paper notes) is also at 682 AUD (within Australia) and 720 AUD (outside Australia).

What does the course include?

The goal of the course is to “understand cat psychology and apply that knowledge to manage and influence the behaviour of cats.” Highlights of the comprehensive lessons include differentiating health and behavioural issues in cats, understanding natural behaviour as well as disorders or abnormalities, dealing with cat aggression and geriatric dysfunction, and training cats at an early age.

Why is this course better than other courses?

You can study the lessons and submit the assignments on your own time over 12 months. You’ll also receive a Statement of Attainment when you’ve completed the course.
