Is Recreation Beauty Bondi Beach Cruelty Free?

Yes, Recreation Beauty Bondi Beach is cruelty free.

Originating in Sydney’s famous Bondi Beach, Recreation Beauty is an Australian brand that formulates perfumes as well as face, body, and hair oils. The brand uses clean ingredients such as plant-based extracts and resins that don’t harm the skin or the planet.

The company was founded by Nedahl Stelio, a former magazine editor who made a conscious switch to using only organic products. Stelio shares, “I’d been using all-natural products for nine years, ever since I started trying to get pregnant and cut chemicals out of my life. Perfume is one of the worst offenders and I found myself spraying perfume into my hair or on my clothes so it wouldn’t touch my skin. That’s when I knew I had to create something that was as safe as it was beautiful. And so Recreation was born.”

The fragrance and oil brand reveals their stance on animal cruelty on their About Us page: “We don’t use any toxic chemicals in our products, no endocrine disrupting ingredients, and no harmful synthetics. As many ingredients as possible are organic. All ingredients are ethically-sourced, vegan, and cruelty-free.

There are no animal products in our natural fragrances, which is unique (did you know that musk used to come from the gland of a male musk deer?). And definitely no animal testing. At all…

Recreation is all things fresh, fun, healthy, happy.

We believe that everyone deserves the best skin of their life. That smelling good is feeling amazing. And being beautiful shouldn’t cost your health, animals, or the planet.”

Recreation Beauty proudly displays the “cruelty free and vegan” logo of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) on their website. They are included on PETA’s Beauty Without Bunnies program because they and their suppliers do not test their ingredients, formulations, and final products on animals anywhere in the world. In addition, their entire product range is free of animal-based ingredients and by-products.
