Yes, CaryO is cruelty free.
CaryO produces 100% organic cacay oil, a golden-hued liquid that contains high levels of retinol, and vitamins E and F (omega 3 and 6). These nutrients are said to provide countless benefits when applied to the skin, hair, and nails. CaryO derives its oil from the Caryodendron Orinocense nut, which is sustainably and responsibly harvested by the company in Meta and Amazon, Colombia. To preserve its natural nutrients, the oil is extracted through the cold press method.
Though CaryO does not mention its testing practices on its website, the global organisation People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) certifies that CaryO does not test its ingredients, formulations, and products on animals. Through its global Beauty Without Bunnies Program, CaryO is considered both cruelty free and vegan. PETA explains the difference between the two, stating, “To be considered ‘cruelty-free’ under PETA’s Global Beauty Without Bunnies program, a company must not only ban animal tests but also refuse to use any animal-derived ingredients, such as honey, beeswax, or carmine, in its products.”
