Is AVEENO Cruelty Free?

Is AVEENO Cruelty Free?

The short answer: No, AVEENO is not entirely cruelty free.

The long answer: A skincare and haircare brand, AVEENO is owned by the American consumer goods and pharmaceutical company, Johnson & Johnson. On its official website, the company states, “We want you to feel good about how we make AVEENO products. You can only do that if you have the facts. The fact is, AVEENO doesn’t conduct animal testing of our cosmetic products anywhere in the world, except in the rare situation where governments or laws require it. At AVEENO, we won’t ever compromise on the quality or safety of our products or stop seeking alternatives to animal testing.”

AVEENO products are being sold all over the world, making it compliant to the laws each country has. Selling their products in China would mean that they are knowingly allowing the Chinese government and their health authorities to do animal tests using their products. This is the only way AVEENO can be allowed to sell its products in the country. As such, AVEENO cannot claim to be 100% against animal testing.
