It is not recommended for cats to eat whipped cream.
Whipped cream is a liquid heavy cream that achieves its light and fluffy texture through whipping. The process is done using a whisk or mixer, which helps form a firm colloid. In some countries, whipped cream is also known as Chantilly cream.
Because of its dairy ingredients, whipped cream is not recommended for cats. For the shape to hold well, the cream used needs to have a high butterfat content. Aside from the cream used, it is usually mixed with flavourings considered harmful for cats. White sugar, coffee, chocolate, and orange are common whipped cream flavours that may poison your feline pet.
Poisoning may manifest in different ways depending on how much your cat ate and the ingredients found in the whipped cream. Common symptoms include salivation, vomiting, diarrhea, twitching and fitting, difficulty in breathing, shock or collapse, skin inflammation or swelling, depression or coma, and changes in drinking, urinating, and appetite.
What to do if your cat accidentally eats whipped cream: A tiny lick of plain whipped cream may not affect your cat. But if she eats a considerable amount, she may suffer from vomiting and diarrhea. If the whipped cream she ate contains toxic ingredients, it is best to contact your veterinarian immediately.
In summary: Cats are obligate carnivores that need to eat animal-based meat to survive and thrive. As their bodies cannot digest milk and other dairy products properly, they should not be given whipped cream. Since whipped cream does not offer any nutritional benefits, it is best to let your cat try fruits and vegetables instead.
