No, cats cannot eat spaghetti bolognese because of potentially harmful ingredients.

Spaghetti bolognese is a popular Italian dish that consists of pasta noodles mixed with meat-based sauce. Though plainly cooked pasta can be eaten by your cat, the other ingredients used to prepare the sauce can cause health complications. When cooked without any seasonings, ground meat (beef and pork) and tomato paste are safe for cat consumption. On the other hand, the onions, red or white wine, and milk found in the dish can all lead to various organ problems. 

Getting her paws on a small amount of onions can cause your cat’s red blood cells to burst. Meanwhile, wine can lead to liver damage and depression of the nervous system. Alcohol toxicity can manifest as increased thirst and urination, disorientation, and lethargy. Lastly, milk can cause digestive upset to adult cats who are generally lactose intolerant. Symptoms include vomiting, bloating, diarrhea, and intestinal cramps.

What to do if your cat accidentally eats spaghetti bolognese: Find out how much she consumed, and which ingredients are present in the dish. If toxic ingredients were used, contact your veterinarian immediately. At the same time, observe your cat for common poisoning symptoms. Signs may include salivation, vomiting, diarrhea, difficulty in breathing, shock or collapse, depression or coma, skin inflammation or swelling, twitching and fitting, and changes in eating, drinking, and urinating.
