This Universal Class online course has been taken by 2,970 participants, and has received a 4.7-star rating by 2,808 course takers. It teaches students how to meet a dog’s grooming needs, from bathing and brushing to dealing with uncommon occurrences and emergencies.

What is it?

The Dog Grooming 101 course contains 11 lessons: Dog Grooming Basics (maintaining a regular grooming routine), Getting Started (the tools you need for dog grooming), Getting to Know Your Dog Inside Out (understanding your dog’s anatomy), Bathing and Brushing, Understanding Doggie Hygiene, Clipping the Coat, Customized Coat Care (depending on your dog’s fur type and length), The Not-So-Common Occurrences, Doggie First Aid, Time-Saving Grooming Tips, and Becoming a Professional Dog Groomer (especially useful for those thinking of getting into the pet grooming industry). 

Who’s behind it?

The course was created by instructor Cathy Chouinard (who has studied and taught animal training classes for over 20 years) and course editor Jan Hollingsworth (who is an award-winning writer, editor, and journalist).

How much does the course cost?

For just 50 USD, you can gain access to this six-month course from Universal Class. You can also complete the course and get a certificate for 75 USD. However, you must earn a final grade of 70% or higher to receive an online/downloadable CEU Certification documenting the 1.2 CEUs earned.

The Universal Class’ platinum membership grants you access to unlimited classes from over 500 online courses for only 189 USD per year. However, you can only take 5 different courses at a time.

What does the course include?

The course includes 11 lessons, 11 assignments, and 12 exams. You receive a total of 390 points for completing the course.
